She talks about what to choose, When to start and and how to go about it from the day your Dates are decided.Read on for the Step by step complete pre-wedding guide.
STEP -1 : WHEN TO START ?
As soon as you know your D-Day you must start planning for your skin because some corrections in skin can be long pending, may take numerous sessions for clearance or may simply take more time to perform. Also if your skin has always been like a star - there is always a scope for enhancement if your skin routine can be tweaked for an added Bridal Glow.
You can categorise your skin needs as
🥵 URGENT- Start as early as possible (6-12months before the wedding)
😲 NEEDS SOME HELP (start minimum 3 months prior to the wedding)
😊 JUST NEEDS ENHANCEMENT.- Start 30 days before the wedding
STEP 2- HOW TO DECIDE ?
🔥 Skin that needs urgent help will be the one facing deeper skin problems like Dark Pigmented Patches, Severe Acne/ pimples, Past Acne scars, Chicken Pox or Surgical Scars, Stretch Marks, Excess Facial Hair or Body Hair, Excessive Hair loss or Scalp Visibility.
🔥 Skin that needs some help would most likely be - Mild acne, Dullness, Skin tanning, open pores, Uneven Skin tone, Skin Sagging , Scanty Hair in the scalp or eyebrows or chemically damaged scalp hair.
🔥 Skin that would categorise as JUST needs enhancement will be an otherwise clean fresh looking soft skin with an even skin tone. For such individuals boosting the Hydration levels in the skin, Helping refine the facial features like a long drooping nose, or a small chin or small lips or simply skin rejuvenating procedures can add the much needed BRIDAL GLOW .
STEP 3- WHAT TO SELECT?
As a thumbrule deeper problems will require deeper correction in the form of Medical treatments like MNRF, CO2 lasers , PRP for Hair growth , Laser hair removal in PCOS females with excessive facial hair , Hormonal treatments for hormonal Acne and so on.
Such treatments are best done only after a formal medical consultation with your dermatologist who has analysed your skin type and needs.
However it must be understood these treatments work at deeper levels in the skin and can have some downtime in the form of redness, scabs or longer healing times. Also the major changes in such treatments revolve around collagen production which is a slow process (Avg 6 weeks).
Hence these kind of medical grade treatments are best done as early as before (sometimes even started a year before the wedding).
📌 For more milder problems like Acne, pigmentation etc Medical facials can come to your help.
Sessions like Photofacials help you with Active acne, oil control, open pores etc but would need around 4 -6 sessions at an avg gap of 2-3 weeks.
Mesoglow , Carbon toning or Rf Skin tightening would also require a similar time frame to deliver visible changes.
For brides looking at hair free smooth skin laser hair reduction is offered - which also requires 6-10 sessions at a frequency of once a month.
Hair fall or hair growth issues also are addressed and even after initiating therapy will take at least 4-6 weeks to respond to the treatments like Lasers for hair growth or a GFC.
Also these sessions have to be organised in a way that they don’t overlap or interfere with each other as most brides may want to treat more than one concerns.
So its BEST to plan such sessions at least 3-4 months before the wedding to allow for satisfactory outcomes.
📌 For Brides and grooms who have always had clean clear skin with no major pressing concerns A first Consultation with your dermatologist is advised as soon as your wedding dates are finalised as this will give the skin expert enough time to Start on you a regular skin regimen in the form of necessary skin and hair supplements and skin booster creams and serums.
Following up this home care your pre- bridal sessions can be planned anywhere between 1-2 months prior to the actual D day which could include fading the fine lines with botulinum toxin aka BOTOX or facial contouring sessions like a LIP FILLER to plump or hydrate small lips or maybe just perform a skin tightening Facial for face slimming. Other available options for such skins would include highlighting their eyebrows with Microblading for Perfect eyebrow arch or adding scalp coverage with micro pigmentation.
For those having deep sunken eyes and dark circles PRP and Fillers work Wonders adds the skin expert.
🚨 Such treatments are commonly single sessions and would ideally show best responses in 2-4 weeks and hence it is advisable to consider a time frame of minimum 4 weeks before the wedding.
✅✅ Finally, the very last pre-wedding facial can be planned a week prior to the first function for two reasons—first, it takes almost a week for the best results to reflect on one's complexion; and second, in a worst-case scenario where you may have an undesired effect , this window will give you enough time to tackle it. I also insist on only getting a treatment you've tried before." Dr Ramrakhiani agrees, “You should avoid opting for new facials or face treatments close to your big day. If you're going for a facial or peel, make sure it's something you've done in the past, and something that suits your skin. You should also try and make sure you go to the same person and clinic who did your facial the last time.”
✅ Dr Sonam emphasises on the need of “high-quality products used in the treatment. Most importantly, make sure your treatment is supervised by a doctor or a qualified aesthetician. When opting for a new treatment, I insist on getting a patch test done.”
